The introduction of electricity efficient feed-in tariffs (ee FiT) could reduce the UK’s electricity demand by 40 percent by 2030, saving in excess of £10 billion per year, according to a new report published by Green Alliance and WWF-UK.

The world's energy system is being pushed to breaking point, and our addiction to fossil fuels grows stronger each year. Many clean energy technologies are available, but they are not being deployed quickly enough to avert potentially disastrous consequences.

Environmental charity, Friends of the Earth, is calling on Government to demonstrate global leadership at the international Clean Energy Summit hosted in London by committing the nation to a fossil fuel free electricity system by 2030.

What is an LED?

LED stands for Light Emitting Dioide. Unlike traditional lighting technologies which typically heat up Mercury molecules to emitt UV light. LEDs on the other hand create light simply from the movement of electrons through a semi-conductor material. Due to the fact LEDs have no fillament to heat and use, it results in cooler operating temperatures and longer lifetimes.

With electricity costs ever on the increase. Using LED lighting can save up to 90% on electricity consumption compared to that of a standard halogen bulb, this results in huge savings on your electricty bills.

Additional benefits include:

A new report has claimed that UK manufacturers lose £1.4 billion per year as a result of old lighting systems.

The report, The Light Bulb Moment, produced by Vita Energia, suggests that the losses result from a reluctance to upgrade from 1950s lighting systems.
